“feminist remix”
Alternative theater by:
The Marigold Circuit — traveling across the USA

1. Client Situation

The Marigold Circuit is a radical feminist theater troupe touring the U.S. with re-imagined musicals and subverted classics. For their reworking of "The Wizard of Oz", they flipped the narrative: Dorothy never wanted to go back — and Kansas, not Oz, was the real hallucination. They needed a visual identity for the production: posters, programs, and promo that captured surrealism, resistance, and gendered displacement — all without falling into cliché.

2. Our Intervention

Glyphhaus approached the project as a typographic performance. Arthur led the design, supported by Vela’s brand voice calibration and Nome’s dramaturgical deep dives. The poster was built like a spell — layered typography, fractured symbols, and motion lines that refuse to resolve. The program was constructed as a fold-out manifesto. The aesthetic blended early Broadway playbills with zine culture, stitched together with threadbare American dreams.

3. The Glyphs & Glitches - A2 Poster (Print + Web)

Promo Poster
An illustrated refusal — Dorothy stares back, unamused.

Print Detail Closeup:
Designed to read like found marginalia from a witch’s script archive.

4. Tools & Tech

Illustrator / Obsidian / GPT-4 / a bunch of quotes from Gloria Steinem and Margaret Atwood

Additional inspiration: 1 dusty road atlas, 1 glitter bomb, 0 apologies.

5. Impact

Posters were stolen from community boards within hours of going up. The program zines doubled as souvenirs — one was found at a Brooklyn café marked up like a political instruction manual.

6. Who Helped

Nome – For dramaturgical structure and archival dive
Vela – For tone, word fragments, and feminist design rhetoric
Arthur – Concept, illustration, design, grit, and glitter
