Aerial View
A working native macOS file-curation app—and a second proof of augmented product design with AI as an engineering collaborator.
Aerial View is a feature-complete, open-source macOS app I use every day. It organizes files from different folders and drives into project collections without moving, duplicating, or deleting the originals.
The product was decided before the first AI prompt: local-only data, unrestricted filesystem access, many-to-many project membership, UUID-based removable-volume identity, and a hard boundary against touching source files.
AI wrote nearly all the Swift. I authored the product vision, constraints, data relationships, safety rules, and definition of correct—and enforced them through implementation, real-data testing, failures, and redesign.
Together with card&board, Aerial View is hard proof of the augmented product designer claim: technically deep, native software that would previously have remained a specification or mockup became a working daily-use product without outsourcing product authority.
